Today I feel a little like giving a small tease of what I’m working on. I think this is something I’ll try and do going forward. This is unedited, and raw so bare with me. The final product will of course change ^_^. So today’s is this:

“It’s a boy.” The doctor said, holding their son to Tomoe who took him gently. She was exhausted, but radiant as she held her son.

Her brows knit when she looked at their son, “He seems weak, is he ok?”

The doctor leaned over Kel’s shoulder to inspect the boy, finger and thumb to his chin. “I’ll need to do some initial tests. Have you thought of a name in the mean time?”

“We have. Akamori. After Kel’s father.” Tomoe said.

“It fits,” the doctor said, gently tousling the young infant’s dark fuzzy hair. After a few more minutes with the baby, the doctor took Akamori to run some tests. Now time seemed to drag forever, which caused Kel no end of agony as he paced back and forth around Tomoe’s bed.

“Kel, please. Try to relax. Everything will be fine.”

Kel sighed, and took a seat next to her. A few hours later, the Doctor returned without Akamori. He explained that he put their baby on a special medicine to help with his strength. He also told them that he wasn’t confident that Akamori would be strong enough to survive. That it may be best to consider making arrangements.

That snippet is from a new book I’m writing. It’s something a little different than my standard Military Science Fiction flare, but it’s a story I’ve been carrying around for ages. It’s changed, and evolved quite a bit but the overall themes and plots have remained essentially the same. Hopefully you enjoy it more we continue to dive into that world.
