Took me long enough right?

Almost a year to the day I can finally say my first solo novel is completed almost purely by me. I had some help through an editor (vital) and someone who helped whip up the super sexy render of the ship for me (also vital). Now at long last, my book is all but complete and ready for upload to retailers, after I consult with my guru to make sure there isn’t anything else I should be doing first ^.^;;

It’s been a big learning experience as I go, and what I learn continually gets applied to each iteration of the series. It’s been fun to evolve as a writer as the characters evolve in their stories. When I started out writing this it was kind of an ode to old school science fiction. I’ve always been a big star wars, star trek, babylon 5, stargate, earth 2, space above and beyond, aliens and halo fan. I wanted to draft a world that felt like those while telling my own stories. Hopefully you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them. I can get so caught up in the words sometimes. That’s when I know I’m writing in the right ‘world’. I can’t exactly call Rain’s Gambit and it’s successors a labor of love because that would imply they were work when they really weren’t. Truth is I had too much fun doing them. I still do and plan to for a while to come. To quote Neo from the matrix close to the credits “I’m not here to tell you how this ends. I’m here to tell you how this begins.”

I don’t know what the end game for all this will be. I have ideas. But ideas often take money, so I also have to be realistic about what I can do. Still, it’s fun to explore this new frontier of mine. I almost kind of feel like Commander Rain.

So that said I’m going to go ahead and start setting up a mailing list so you lovelies can get the latest and greatest Star Odyssey information and other assorted properties when and as I get around to making them. For the current time being, I plan to stay firmly entrenched in SO. Stay tuned for future updates 🙂
