Work is progressing steadily on Book 2’s rewrites. Very happy with the way things are knitting together and the improvements I’ve been able to make to my process. I kinda fell off for a while because of work and life getting busy and hectic. Such is the hassle for a beginner who is supporting himself. Maybe I should make a book about that? Hmmm…

In other news, I’m saving back for cover art for my Dominus War Anthology and I think I might make another one. It was a lot of fun tossing together a bunch of shorts without having to flesh out a full book. And trust me, it was hard not to just do that.

Keeping my focus has been a big hurdle to keep in mind as I began all this. I didn’t want to just get spaced out and start a bunch of unfinished manuscripts like I used to. So my focus primarily has been “Get this one done, before starting anything else.” Which is hard, because when your goal is to build a backlist or a library, it’s deceptively tempting to want to start EVERYTHING at the same time. But the problem with that is that you never get any real progress and everything just winds up being unfinished.

I like just focusing on one thing, on one problem, on one task and just nuking it down and then moving on to the next one. Too much multitasking just never gets you anywhere. At some point, you have to be able to sit down and just get tasks done.

So what’s my current task? Finish the first draft for book 2, and then get it into some editing. I’m debating on if I want to spend on the developmental editing or just do the mechanics and grammar.  Money vs time is always a big decision. Do I spend the money? Which I don’t have so I need to save first and wait which means sitting on what could, in theory, be finished pieces. Or do I push it out now with a little less polish and hope everyone just enjoys it?

I think, for the time being, I’ll just focus on content production. When I eventually have the funds, I’ll go back and look at dialing things in with some quality edits.

Anyway, that’s where I’m at right now. Very busy. Writing. Working. Studying. x.x;;
