I had to go on a bit of a hiatus for a few reasons.
First was I’d finished writing the first and second books, and needed to take a pause to wrap the other elements those needed to be release ready. Book 1 is just about there thanks in part to the delayed art assets finally getting ready. Omardex, my 3d designer handling the task of literally building the Odyssey had initially given me a 30 day estimate on his build time but the project was delayed for several months. He even insisted on refunding me and finishing out the project as a courtesy, but I had to refuse. I could see where the project was going and knew it was worth the wait.
It gave me time to dial in the first book and do some spot edits on the second. Which still needs to see an editor, but that’s an aside. Anyway! So yea, I slowed up after I finished book 2 so I could get the assets set up to tackle the covers. I didn’t figure I’d be able to write faster than my artwork would take to be generated. Such is life.
Now that it’s almost ready though I’ll be to burn out books as fast my poor little fingers can handle. Which means getting my head around all kinds of other things too. Joy. Stuff like account set up, tax information, formatting! Oi vey. I’m keeping my urge to freak out suppressed through sheer will power at this point.
To help keep my creative mind going I’ve been doing my illustration still, watching the fantabulous new Rogue One, A Star Wars story, and reading Star Wars Lords of the Sith, by Paul S. Kemp
I wanted to read this one for a few reasons. For starters it’s the first book of the new Disney canon to tackle the terrible twosome in their prime before the events of Episode 4. It’s been a good read so far, but despite the fact they brought back veteran character Cham Syndylla from the Clone Wars cartoon to be the protagonist (or antagonist if you view Vader and Sidious in those roles) it still feels almost like a chore to read through those characters. It takes effort not to just skip ahead to the next portion of Vader and Sidious’ story. I haven’t finished yet, but so far it’s been a good read.
